Luke 2:
8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

Little known History:
A crew member of the USS Utah had been storing an urn containing his daughter’s ashes in his locker onboard, planning to scatter them at sea, but the Dec. 7 attack prevented him from ever doing so. Sixty-four men died aboard the USS Utah that day, and many of their bodies remain entombed within its sunken hull. The baby girl, who had died at birth, was finally honored with a funeral at the USS Utah Memorial at Pearl Harbor in 2003.

Chap Rc,
A historic call to prayer by President Donald Trump has been issued for Sunday, September 3, 2017. This call to prayer focuses our nation on, "A National Day of Prayer for the Victims of Hurricane Harvey and for our National Response and Recovery Efforts." In this critical time in our nation, we need to pray for the desperate needs in Texas and Louisiana. As I released earlier this week, this catastrophe in Texas should drive every Christian to our knees. May all the churches in America on Sunday, September 3rd, respond to this disaster with fervent prayer and radical generosity.

National PTSD Month
Starting in 2010, Congress named June 27th PTSD Awareness Day (S. Res. 455). In 2014, the Senate designated the full month of June for National PTSD Awareness (S. Res. 481). Efforts are underway to continue this designation for the fourth consecutive year in 2017.
VA provides effective treatment for our nation's Veterans and conducts research on PTSD, including the prevention of stress disorders. Our campaign supports Veterans, their families, and all those who have experienced trauma to get care. Be a part of PTSD Awareness Month.

Yet another Tragedy

Sad News
When will it stop? Eight (8) dead in NY by a "terrorist" deliberately running down bicyclists a dozen more injured.
I often turn to Matthew 5:1-12 Verse 7 a blessing for those who help others.
Praying for those injured and mourning with those who are mourning.
(and knowing how hollow my words are) Yet sincere

Since God is good, prayer is good.
“Look out! Here IT comes!” “I can’t take IT anymore!”
‘Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘I will come and heal him’. — Matthew 8:6–7
He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command. — Hebrews 1:3
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. — Matthew 28:18
You are good.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

Foundations of the Faith:
THE LAW OF GOD
Obedience to the Law -
The Lord asks that we keep His commandments not only in but in attitude as well--an attitude of love, of preferring others above ourselves.
"The commandments. 'Do not commit adultery; do not murder; do not steal; do not desire what belongs to someone these, and any others are summed up in the one command, 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself'" (Romans 13:9).
"For our love for God means that we obey his commands. And his commands are not too hard for us" (I John 5:3). We already know that keeping commandments won't save us. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 confirms it! "For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it."
However, we do obey the Lord because as His children we want above all else to please Him. If we do break one of His commandments, we should immediately ask God to forgive and cleanse us from sins.
"I am writing this to you, my so that you will not sin; but if anyone sin, we have someone who pleads with the Father on our behalf--Jesus Christ, the righteous one. And Christ himself is the means by which our sins are forgiven, and not our sins only, but the sins of everyone (1 John 2:1-2)."
Have you sometimes felt weak and maybe even disobedient? The Lord Jesus can give you the help and strength that you need. Would you like to bow your head and ask for His help right now?
Heavenly Father, I ask forgiveness for failing to love You as I should. Help me not to sin and disobey You when I know better.
Lord, I want to love You and defend Your Name even more than I would love and defend my own family. Give me Your strength, I because I ask in the name of Jesus who gave His life for me.
Amen.

Doing the Impossible
"For with God, nothing will be impossible."— Luke 1:37
Devotion:
My friend, let me instruct you When you are having a conversation with God, there are some words you just do not use. One of them is “impossible;” another one is “incredible.” Those words are not even in God’s dictionary. The Queen in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland proclaimed that she could think of at least six impossible things before breakfast. She is not exactly a hero, but it is a great exercise to think of the impossible. Sometimes a lofty thought comes to mind; for example, “I think I would like to build a school.” Right at its heel comes the thought, “That’s impossible—you can’t do that.” Usually, that is the end of our impossible thought. But we serve a God with whom nothing is impossible. Now, at the beginning of a new year, imagine some great goal or project you would like to see happen. Bearing in mind, it should be primarily for God’s glory and others’ good. Place that goal before the Lord and see what happens.
Question to ponder: Do you have an “impossible” dream?

Happy New Year!
2016
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8
The prospect of a new year could be both disquieting and exciting. When we reflect on the future, it is a rather common mistake to allow the events of the past to cloud our vision. International crises, financial setbacks, droughts, floods, as well as personal problems and disappointments tend to dictate our pattern of thought when we ponder the possible consequences for us.
Today, more so than ever before, the moment has come to place your unwavering trust in the omniscience of God. He truly cares about you and He loves you profoundly: But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ (Eph. 2:4).
Everyone has a need for love: true, profound, and sincere love.
Mankind lost this love due to the Fall.
Therefore, you will have to rediscover, without delay, the fact that in this loveless world there is still Somebody who has a special interest in you: a God in heaven who is Love and who loves you tenderly.Believe in the promises of Jesus and approach the new year in the presence of the living Christ. He will guide you through the labyrinth of life because He knows what is best for you. Your duty lies in obeying Him. Then your anxiety will be replaced with self-awareness born of the love of God!
